Meet Ed Hartzog
The Upper East Side is not only the place I call home, but also one of the most iconic neighborhoods in New York City. Its historic places, cultural attractions and sweeping vistas draw visitors from within the City and beyond. And, while we are blessed to live here, we are also charged with a tremendous responsibility to care for and pass along this treasure to the next generation - which is one of the reasons why I am running for NYS Assembly.
Meet Ed Hartzog
LIKE YOU I AM PART OF AND CARE DEEPLY ABOUT THIS COMMUNITY:
A Member of Community Board 8, Youth & Education, Environment and Sanitation committees, I have taken on the issues that matter to families in our neighborhoods. As a member of The Borough President’s Task Force on Education and as a mentor to High School students through Minds Matter, I have fought to make sure that our children get the education they deserve.
I AM AN ADVOCATE FOR MORE GREEN and OPEN SPACE:
As a member of the Carl Schultz Park Association, and as a member of the Central Park Conservancy, I have protected the most important resource in our community – its open space. With an MPA in Environmental Economic Policy from the Maxwell School, I know how to create positive change in the real world. I have advocated for the implementation of at thoughtful environmental policy, as a member of Community Board 8's CUNY-MSK Task Force.
I BELIEVE IN GREATER TRANSPARENCY AND ACCESSIBILITY TO GOVERNMENT:
As a member of the 1133 York Avenue Task Force, I advocated for greater access to information and more thoughtful land use policy decision-making. I worked with the community and affected constituencies in opposing the MTA’s plan to sell the West Side Rail Yards in 2005. I have served as and trained poll watchers and election observers for the past 7 years. As a Steering Committee Member of the NY Democratic Lawyers’ Council, I have worked to increase voting rights and participation. I have also worked to increase voting awareness and civic instruction in our schools as the founder of Kids Voting New York City, Inc.
I AM ALSO YOUR NEIGHBOR:
I want to hear your concerns and learn about your issues.
How can I help?
